ABOUT MIMA
How much can you leave out of a masterpiece and not lose its essence? This question is at the heart of the Mima Collection 'Old masters in a new guise'. The works have been reduced to graphic surfaces with the colors from the original works of the grand masters.
MEET THE MAKER
Noortje Erich (1980) is originally a high school visual arts teacher. She graduated from the Arnhem & Nijmegen University with a Bachelor in Visual Arts in 2002. In addition to teaching, she later completed a graphic study at the Graphic Media Institute in Amsterdam. She moved to Utrecht for love and became the mother of two sons there.
After eighteen years of teaching, unfortunately, things had to change. Noortje developed a chronic illness (ME), and teaching was no longer possible. While sketching in the search for the essence of the Masterpiece, she once again found the joy in creating and rediscovered her own creative voice.
In the future she hopes to open her own Studio - A place to guide young people (who are ill) and to be able to create for themselves. As Frida Kahlo once said: 'Passion is the bridge that takes you from pain to change.'

MIMA TURNS GREEN
Did you know that MIMA tries to do business with an eye for the world? We try to make our steps from design to product as green as possible. We mainly collaborate with local, social companies and of course our paper and cardboard always have the FSC quality mark.
What we do to make the world a better place? Our smallest shipping boxes are made of grass cardboard, the mini posters are packed in bio-plastic, the round MIMA stickers are completely vegan and the ecological jewelry boxes are printed with organic paint. Yet we are not 100% green, but we challenge ourselves and partner companies to do business in an increasingly green way. In any case, we do our sustainable best.
