MIMA I VINCENT
Van Gogh… revered, crazy, genius. These are all words that have been used to describe perhaps one of the most famous of the Grand Master painters.
It took quite some time before Studio Noor’s efforts finally paid off and she was able to capture the man himself from ‘Self-Portrait With Gray Felt Hat’ (1887). And this all in this collection’s signature simplified surfaces and gentle tones. It was in her tireless search for the right proportions that she gained deep insight into van Gogh’s profound craftsmanship.
Nothing in this personal work is left to chance, everything is consciously chosen and thoughtfully considered. The contrasting blues and angular reference points capture your attention as his questioning eyes search your soul and his orange beard leaps from the canvas. His understanding and command of color contrast was second to none.
And still his presence is felt with the use of only 5 colors and 2 grays present across 13 tonal panes.
